Amerikaans production designer en schilder van Griekse afkomst. Vaste medewerker van regisseur Francis Ford Coppola. Won een Oscar voor The Godfather Part II (Coppola, 1974). Nog vier Oscarnominaties, voor The Brink’s Job (William Friedkin, 1978), Apocalypse Now (Coppola, 1979), Tucker: The Man and His Dream (Coppola, 1988) en The Godfather Part III (Coppola, 1990). Eerste credit als art director voor Bonnie and Clyde (Arthur Penn, 1967) en als production designer voor Zabriskie Point (Michelangelo Antonioni, 1970). Tekende ook voor het production design van films als Little Big Man (Penn, 1970), The Godfather (Coppola, 1972), Gouden Palmwinnaar The Conversation (Coppola, 1974), Farewell, My Lovely (Dick Richards, 1975),
