Amerikaans acteur, voluit Thomas Lee Kirk. Ster van de Disney-hit Old Yeller (Robert Stevenson, 1957) over een jongen en zijn hond. Werd prototype van de van gezondheid blakende, onschuldige tiener uit het Eisenhower-tijdperk, in films als The Shaggy Dog (Charles Barton, 1959), Swiss Family Robinson (Ken Annakin, 1960) en The Absent-Minded Professor/Flubber (Stevenson, 1961). Contract met Disney werd ontbonden in 1964 op verdenking van homoseksualiteit. Kirk zou pas in 1973 uit de kast komen en speelde, mede onder invloed van drugsproblemen, in steeds minder vooraanstaande films. Onder meer in de Disney-producties Babes in Toyland (Jack Donohue, 1961), Moon Pilot (James Neilson, 1962), Escapade in Florence (Steve Previn, 1962), Bon Voyage! (Neilson, 1962), Son of Flubber (Stevenson, 1963), Savage Sam (Norman Tokar, 1963), The Misadventures of Merlin Jones (top-billed; Stevenson, 1964) en The Monkey’s Uncle (top-billed; Stevenson, 1965). Na het ontslag door Disney stapte Kirk over naar American International Pictures, waar hij in tienerfilms speelde als Pajama Party (top-billed tegenover Disney-ster Annette Funicello; Don Weis, 1964), en The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini (Weis, 1966).
